Imperial #5026 Phoenix Bowl
Imperial Glass Phoenix bowl in Periwinkle Blue, circa 1954-55. The Phoenix bowl is part of the Cathay line created by designer Virginia B. Evans and was debuted by Imperial in 1949. Original production was crystal and crystal satin. Original Cathay pieces were signed Virginia B. Evans and were not produced in color. The first color reissue (unsigned) was Black Suede introduced in 1955-57. Subsequent color reissues were Dynasty Green Jade in 60-61, Cranberry satin & Verde Green satin, Periwinkle Blue satin 1964-66. The 1964-66 Imperial reissues featured a slightly elongated neck and these were the final reissues produced by Imperial.

Imperial sold the mold to the Lancaster Colony Corporation who at that time owned Fostoria Glass, Lancaster Glass & Indiana Glass. The Phoenix bowl was reproduced in crystal for Fostoria outlet stores & in color for Tiara Exclusives.
