Cornflower Cutting on Unknown Cordial
W.J.HUGHES "CORNFLOWER", LTD. of Toronto, Ontario, Canada starting cutting his CORNFLOWER decoration on elegant glassware(US made blanks) in 1916. In 1940, a former expert cutter at Hughes, by the name of R.G. SHERRIFF started cutting a copy of the Hughes Cornflower on glass blanks purchased from U.S & European sources.

We have a set of (4) tiny 3 5/8" cordial goblets with a twisted lady leg stem and a flower petal ornament between the top of the stem and the bottom of the bowl, having a
10 petal Cornflower "type" cutting. Two of the experts on W.J. Hughes Cornflower have stated that the cutting was done by R.G.SHERRIFF, however, we have not been able to ID the maker of the blank? it is thought that these blanks were made in Europe(it is known that Sherriff did purchase some of his blanks from Sweden.

Can anyone idenitfy the maker of this blank? Thanks, Charlie Hudelmaier
