Liberty Works Company History
Liberty Works, Egg Harbor, NJ, was in business from 1902-1932. In 1932, fire damaged most of the plant and due to the economic depression, Liberty did not manage to rebuild.

Liberty Works was originally a cut glass decoration shop. They cut glass from other manufacturers then in the teen decade they started making tableware. Their cut glass pieces were shipped all over the world

The following information was published in Egg Harbor City Golden Jubilee Celebration Official Souvenir Book of Egg Harbor City, NJ. George F Breder was the publisher of the book.

"Liberty Cut Glass Works were built in 1903 by a local stock company. The factory has given the city a decided boom. A number of glass cutters have settled here and found remunerative work. Our young men are given the opportunity to learn the glass cutting trade. The designing and cutting of the glass is executed at the factory, while the glass itself is imported from France and Belgium; some comes from Massachusetts and New York state. The goods of Liberty Cut Glass Works are shipped to all parts of the United States. The officers of the company are: President, Thomas P. Strittmatter; Vice-president, Charles Cast; Secretary, Albert C. Stephany; Treasurer, Robert Ohnmeiss; Directors, John E. Marsden, John H. Diamond, and James Marsden."

From the 1930 Diamond Jubilee Celebration Official Souvenir and Program of Events, Liberty Glass Works had an advertisement on page 24 which stated "Manufacturers of Table Glassware, one of Egg Harbor's leading industries since 1902"

Bill Quillen provided this information from the actual souvenir programs.
