Company History
Mantle Lamp Company (Aladdin), Alexandria, Indiana (1926-1952).

Originally incorporated in 1906 in Chicago as a distributor of kerosene lamps, the Mantle Lamp Company purchased the Lippincott Glass Company in Alexandria, Indiana, in 1926 with the intention of manufacturing chimneys and shades. By 1930, they had embarked on the production of the Aladdin lamps for which they are famous today. Eventually the company became Aladdin Industries and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1949. After this date, manufacture of lamps was limited, with some made for the company in later years by Fenton. In 1999, their lamp division was purchased by a group of collectors belonging to the Aladdin Knights of the Mystic Light, with the goal, as stated on their Web site, “to preserve the Aladdin lamp for future generations, to provide the chimneys, wicks and mantles needed to old and new lamps alike, to improve quality, re-establish the Aladdin trademark in the lighting industry, establish a strong network of Aladdin distributors and dealers, enhance Aladdin Customer Service and introduce new top quality Aladdin products.†To this end, they have established the Aladdin Mantle Lamp Company in Clarksville, Tennessee.
