Heisey #4224 Ivy Vase and Look-A-Like
Orange blown glass vase made by Leerdam and designed by Chris Lanooy (1881-1948). Lanooy designed the "Orange apple" for the 18th birthday of Queen Juliana in 1927. Excellent condition but has dirt deposits inside and needs cleaning.
This particular vase has been represented as “rare†Heisey Tangerine for years, even though Clarence Vogel debunked that notion over 30 years ago. Unscrupulous dealers still pawn it off as rare. I have seen one with Lanooy’s etched mark, and I have personally owned and sold at least nine or ten, so they aren’t that rare. The true story is more interesting and its actually made by a better glass house than Heisey. $6 S/I in the U.S., more abroad.
