"This is most intriguing. I wrote a book on Lariat (years ago) that was published by the Heisey Collectors of America, utilizing all of the information I could find in their archives. This particular piece is not in the book. The lid is obviously from the candy box, designed by Horace King, and made with the horsehead handle from 1947-1948 (after which the horsehead was replaced with a plume handle). An 8-inch footed bowl was designed by Horace in 1947, with the horsehead feet, but apparently did not go into full production. Examples of the bowl have been found in the Newark area and it is believed they were samples only. I am guessing that the bowl was reshaped to take the candy box lid and that this, too, is a previously unreported sample, which would make this doubly unique." quote from Tom Felt
