Hawthorne color covered sugar, no optic, star bottom.
Shelly Yergensen's Collectible Sugars & Creamers, vol. two, page 126,In volume 2, which covers Fenton-Heisey, Shelly provides some interesting information about this sugar (& creamer), calling it a Hotel set. It evolved from this set #1023 shown in the Gallery http://chataboutdg.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=4252 that had a star in the bottom. As it became #1184 Yeoman, the star was removed and the diamond optic version was added to the plain version. She also states that the diamond optic version is more commonly found than the plain.
The cutting appears to be Hughes' Cornflower. |
