Tom Felt, author of the book, "L. E. Smith Glass Company, The First Hundred Years" says "This is L. E. Smith's no. 533 candlestick, made circa 1939-1957. There are actually three versions of this candlestick known, in both crystal and milk glass. The earliest version was modified sometime in the 1940s, then modified again around 1953. Each time some detail was lost. This example is the middle version."
