Heisey # 865 Florentine on a #3404 Spanish Oyster Cocktail
Heisey # 865 Florentine on a #3404 Spanish Oyster Cocktail
#865 Florentine is a design by Emil Krall, perhaps the best designer/engraver Heisey had. Before he started with Heisey in 1933 he'd worked in the Austrian court of Franz Josef, and knew many of Europe's royalty. He brought this prestige to America, and was sent by Heisey to make personal appearances in department stores. Other members of his family were also talented engravers and worked for Heisey.
The Heisey family had Florentine on their set of "good" stemware, a testament to their high regard for it. It was used 1935-1943, and is usually seen on the #3404 Spanish stemware line; it's also found on #1401 Empress and #1509 Queen Ann serving pieces, #1429 oval bowl and #143 Trident candleholder.
Here Florentine is shown on the Spanish 3 1/2 oz. oyster cocktail.
