FEDERAL GLASS COMPANY, Columbus, OH (1900‑1979).
Federal began in 1900 as another maker of hand‑made glassware but before long they were developing methods of automating the glassmaking process. By the 1920s they were a leading supplier of low cost, machine made tumblers. By the thirties entire table settings were being pressed by machine. They continued to prosper and expand through the 1940s. In 1958 Federal Glass became a division of the Federal Paperboard Company. They continued to supply glassware to the retail and commercial markets until their closing in 1979.
