This jar has been seen with bath powder in it and a Kresge label. It has also been seen with a flower frog, so it was possibly sold both ways. The top rim of the jar itself is threaded but the lid is not. L. E. Smith produced a violet vase with a frog that also has the top rim threaded in the same manner.
Note the different optics on the lid and base.
The owner of the piece was told that this item is threaded because it was originally sold with a product inside and a different lid. More than likely the lid glass lid was a premium that came with the product.
