Diameter of base 10 1/8 in. Diameter of outer ring around collar is 3.25 in. This ring surrounds a concave area in the underside of the plate from which the collar arises. Diameter of collar 2.5 in. Height of handle from collar to top 4.25 in. Width of handle at widest part 2 3/8 in. Handle is six-sided; its top is horizontal and its sides perpendicular to the plane of the plate.

This CHS was difficult to identify, and some reservations still exist. The CHS is very close in appearance to the second #5180 shown in Inez Austin's WVMAG monograph "A Guide to Identification of Glass Center Handle Servers" and close in measurements to the first 5180 shown. The monograph characterizes both as having a "flat collar with a slender double optic".

The collar is not flat; it is slightly convex, rising up into the handle. The collar has what looks like the continuation of a seam joining one half of the handle and collar to the other half. Perhaps that is what is described as a "slender double optic."
