L. E. Smith # 525 Mount Pleasant Opalescent Tray
According to Tom Felt, author of "L. E. Smith Glass Company, The First One Hundred Years" the only documentation found for Smith making opalescent colors is from 1981-1982, when they made blue, cranberry pink, and mint green opalescent. However, this piece is not among the limited number of items that were shown in catalogs. So if this is Smith, my guess would be that it was made from an old mold as a trial piece that did not go into production.

According to Tom Felt, Smith did several different surface treatments to their glass in the 525 line. He also states that the 525 pieces will all have 3 feet.

In his book, "L. E. Smith Glass Company, the First Hundred Years" , he says that Mount Pleasant is not really a single pattern but several line numbers which were produced in the 1930s that have been grouped into this pattern name by collectors. Those line numbers are 81, 200, 505,515, 410 ,600, 635, 2000.
