Many of the depression glass mass produced patterns are being reproduced. Many of the reproductions are in cobalt. Sometimes the original pattern was not even produced in cobalt but even when it was, there is a glaring difference in the original and repro color as shown in this gallery picture.
In almost all instances reproduction depression glass in cobalt is made in this darker blue which easily distinguishes it from the cobalt blue found on old depression glass.
Elegant glass cobalt blue from the same era is often a darker richer blue as well but the glass has a different sheen (less greasy look) and almost all of the handmade elegant glass has not been reproduced.
