New Martinsville Newport
A cream and sugar in this pattern with the Viking Prelude etching has been found. Viking used New Martinsville molds. This along with the production dates and colors available were used to determine that this pattern was made by New Martinsville. The pattern was made for Pitman- Dreitzer, a distributor.According to the Pitman-Dreitzer ad in the "Colored Glass of the Depression Era, Book 2" by Hazel Marie Weatherman price guide, Newport was made in 1935 in Crystal, ruby, blue, amethyst, amber, evergreen and rose.

The Felt and Stoer Candlestick book has the following information about Pitman-Dreitzer & Company, Inc. This company was established in 1930 as a representative and manufacturer of china and glassware. Colony Glass Company was a division under Pitman-Dreitzer. The earliest reference to Colony Crystal dates to 1939. The researchers, Felt and Stoer have found no evidence that Colony had their own factory. It appears that Pitman-Dreitzer placed orders with different factories in West Virginia and Indiana, with advertising frequently mentioning Dunkirk as point of origin. Because Dunkirk is listed as the point of origin, it is thought that much of Colony's glass was made by the Indiana Glass Company. Some Colony glassware was also imported. Indiana is not known to have made the colors found in the Newport pattern.
