Note mark on the box. This mark was attributed to Hocking by Hazel Marie Weatherman and later writers. A closer examination of the historical record of Hocking logos and of this particular mark led Philip Hopper, curator of the Anchor Hocking Glass Museum to the conclusion that this was not a Hocking mark. Another member stated "I believe that...this ashtray set...was produced by the Hemingray Division of Owens-Illinois. These items were produced between 1933 and 1949 when the Hemingray Glass mark with the small "O" in the center was in use."
Each ashtray has a queen design and the appropriate suite symbol (heart, diamond, club, or spade). These sets have also been seen in pink.
