Owens-Illinois Tantalus Set
1940s Decanter Tantalus Rye set. This decanter was made for only about a year in the early 1940s by the Owens-Illinois Glass Company. The locking metal holder is aluminum, but is unmarked. The holder is roughly 12" Tall.

The glass decanter with the stopper in place is 9 3/4" tall. It is deeply acid etched with the word RYE, and a brocade floral etched pattern that is called Wheel Flower. This same pattern is shown on a Crow's Foot covered candy dish on page 151 of the Paden City Glass book by Walker, Bratkovich, & Walker. It is believed that this pattern was etched by the Lotus Decorating Company. At first glance, this looks like the #25 brocade pattern done by New Martinsville, but there are differences if you look closely. The neck of the decanter is frosted with silver trim above and below it.

The six shot glass cordials are cut with a wheat pattern. They are 2 1/8" tall.
