Duncan & Miller # 36 Oval Vase w/ Lotus La Furiste Etch
Duncan & Miller # 36 Oval Vase w/ Lotus La Furiste Etch |
Recently placed in the Unknown category, until a drawing and listing was found in a Duncan & Miller catalog from the 1930s.
Previously identified as Consolidated #2202, with the following description:
"This vase is more recognizable as the sculptured pattern Olive. A crystal vase without olives but with the #21 Etch is shown in the WVMAG monograph #124 Consolidated Art Glass... on p. 48. A unattributed pink vase like this one but with Lotus etch #0889 is shown on p. 102 of Dean Six' Lotus Glass...
Given the time frame of the photograph in Dean Six' book, this vase could have been made by Consolidated or Phoenix. It is placed in the Consolidated Gallery because the Reuben Haley design of the vase was originally molded by Consolidated."
However, this vase is larger, 10-7/8" long by 5" high and wide, and has an internal wide panel optic. Only the marie on the bottom is ground and polished, unlike the Consolidated vase which also has a ground and polished rim on the top. Duncan Miller is considered to be the most likely maker of this vase.
